The pulling power of football star David Beckham may not be enough to guarantee a sellout crowd for the match between Los Angeles Galaxy and Wellington Phoenix.
By yesterday, just over 26,000 tickets had been "sold" for the exhibition game at the 34,500-seater Westpac Stadium on December 1. But Phoenix chief executive Tony Pignata said that figure included 4000 corporate box holders and stadium members who are entitled to free tickets.
"So we have sold 22,000 ... and are selling about 150 a day. We are still expecting 30,000. Whether it is going to be a sellout or not is really up to the public. But if we get over 30,000, we will be happy."
Beckham is guaranteed to play for at least 55 minutes of the match.
